RwandAir confirms London Gatwick launch date
Following the earlier announcement of flights from Kigali to Harare on April 1 and to Mumbai, India, on the April 3, RwandAir has just confirmed that London Gatwick services will commence on May 26.
London will be RwandAir’s second intercontinental destination after Mumbai and is testament to the airline’s expansion strategy now taking hold.
“We are delighted to enable new and seamless connections between London and the whole of our network offering our esteemed customers a differentiated product in terms of comfort, good customer services, and affordability,” said John Mirenge, the Chief Executive Officer of RwandAir when confirming the latest development.
The Airbus A330’s cabin layout features a state-of-the-art Business Class cabin, a separate cabin for the arguably best Premium Economy class in the African skies, and a comfortable economy class, Wi-Fi onboard, and a wide range of inflight entertainment options.
Now operating a fleet of 11 aircraft, all but 2 acquired brand new, the airline in May is also expecting a fourth Boeing B737-800NG, equipped with inflight Wi-Fi connectivity and a 2-class cabin layout.
Also on the horizon for RwandAir are flights to Conakry and Lilongwe, among other destinations eyed by the Rwandan national airline, to improve intra-African connections while also eying to launch flights to New York by the end of the year. All this is supporting the country’s ambition to become a top 5 Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions destination by next year and remain a leading tourism destination in Eastern Africa.
RwandAir holds the latest certification under IATA’s e-IOSA and ISAGO schemes and is also certified under EASA rules.
